Rock for Youth Campaign
Rock for Youth
Campaign
What is it? The first Annapolis Rock for Youth
campaign is an on-going project to provide college scholarships
for disadvantaged youth residents in the City of Annapolis. Starting in the Spring of '09, there will be different fun events at
various locations throughout Annapolis. Events will be held for people of all
ages, interests, beliefs, ethnicities, educational levels, and physical
capabilities.
Why is it happening? These happenings will provide fun for
all visitors and residents of Annapolis. AND, they will help raise money for
college scholarships for eligible young people of our City.
Who is doing this? The City of Annapolis, Annapolis
Community Foundation, and all of us who appreciate our wonderful City. Anyone
who values our children and wants to provide educational opportunities for
deserving young people will be a part of this dynamic effort.
Where is this happening? You’ll see the Rock for Youth
activities throughout Annapolis -- in restaurants, shops, marinas, parks,
theaters, hospitals, businesses, organizations, neighborhoods, schools, places
of worship, the city dock, and more!
What kind of fun events? How about Rock Around the Clock?
Rock the Boat? Rock Raffle? To the Rocks? Rock the Corks? Rocking Chairs?
Rocking Horses? Rock of Ages? Rock Concert? Rock for Change? Well, you get
the idea!
When is it? Look for all the activities during the month of
October.

Mission and Goal of Rock for Youth Campaign
VISION
The vision of the Rock for Youth Campaign is to provide college scholarships
for disadvantaged youth residents in the City of Annapolis.
MISSION
The mission of the Rock for Youth Campaign is to raise funds through various
entertaining community-wide events. These events will appeal to people of all
ages, ethnicities, beliefs, interests, physical conditions and educational
levels. The funds raised will be utilized by the City of Annapolis Office of
Youth and Community Affairs specifically for the purpose of establishing an
endowment for college scholarships for disadvantaged youth.
OBJECTIVES
The objectives of the Rock for Youth Campaign are:
- Raise funds to provide college scholarships for disadvantaged youth.
- Raise awareness for the need to support young people who want to improve themselves through education.
- Unite the residents of the City of Annapolis to envision and achieve more opportunities for youth to excel.
- Involve the business community in supporting these efforts.
- Increase work opportunities for the youth of Annapolis.
- Educate and inform Annapolis residents regarding the advantages of supporting City youth.
GOAL
The goal is to raise a Million Dollar Endowment. This year we hope the Rock
for Youth Campaign will provide five (5) scholarships (tuition, books and fees)
for two (2) years at Anne Arundel Community College. The remainder of the funds
will be applied to the endowment for future scholarships.
