In the Community

Your Community Can Become a NEIGHBORHOOD NETWORKS Community.

Be Prepared for Emergencies!

A sense of community in a neighborhood ties people together on a regular basis, but that community becomes even more important during an emergency and/or disaster situation. To help neighbors take care of themselves, their family and their neighbors promotes a feeling of well-being and safety. During an emergency, first responders may not be able to reach a neighborhood within 24 hours, sometimes not in 72 hours.

The mission of the Annapolis of Emergency Management is to ensure the citizens of the city are prepared to be self sufficient during an emergency/disaster situation. To help meet this goal, we are introducing Neighborhood Network.

Neighborhood Network entails bringing people from your community  together to gather contact information, determine any special needs and/or skills and material that are available during an emergency situation and plan how to organize neighborhood assistance when
it is needed.

Citizen Corps The mission of Citizen Corps is to harness the power of every individual through education, training, and volunteer service to make communities safer, stronger, and better prepared to respond to the threats of terrorism, crime, public health issues, and disasters of all kinds.

The Citizen Corps mission will be accomplished through a national network of state, local, and tribal Citizen Corps Councils. These Councils will build on community strengths to implement the Citizen Corps programs and will carry out a local strategy to have every American participate.
